Using ShadowChat: Initiating and Managing Officer-Enrollee Chat Sessions

ShadowChat Overview

ShadowChat is a live chat feature between Officers and Enrollees on Shadowtrack’s desktop web platform.

Key Features of ShadowChat

  • Officers can initiate live chat sessions with enrollees via the EnrolleeApp.
  • Enrollees’ locations are automatically captured at the start of the chat and linked to their profile.
  • Once a chat ends, enrollees cannot restart it.
  • Officers can download a full transcript of the chat session.
  • Notes up to 4,000 characters can be added at the end of the session, with custom note types specific to each entity.
  • The chat session and its length are recorded in the Shadowtrack system for documentation.

How to Start a Chat with an Enrollee

  1. Ensure the enrollee is logged into the app before starting a chat.

  2. You can initiate the chat by:

    • Clicking the globe icon next to the enrollee's name on the main enrollee dashboard.
    • Clicking the globe icon in the header of the enrollee profile.
    • Using the globe icon next to the enrollee's name in the search bar.
  3. Select the Chat tile to start a session.

  4. Confirm by clicking Yes, and the enrollee will receive an alert to join the chat.

During the Chat

  • Type your message and click Send.
  • You’ll see when the enrollee is typing.
  • To check the enrollee’s location, click the Location icon to view their position on a map, with zoom in/out options.
  • You have the ability to download the conversation transcript within the chat by clicking "Download Conversation". 

Ending the Chat

  • Once the conversation is over, click End Chat.
  • After ending the chat, you can add notes and download the conversation transcript with the enrollees compliance tab.
