ShadowAlertness Check-In Requirements
Check-In Requirements:
Correctional officers must check in every 30 minutes using the app to confirm they are safe and alert during their shifts. If the officer fails to check in, one or more supervisors will be notified. The 30-minute window for the officer to check in starts at the top of the hour and resets midway through the hour. As each stage of the check-in window approaches, the buttons' colors will change if the officer fails to check-in.
During a check-in, a GPS tracking point will be taken.
Please note that when the officer logs in, the notifications will not begin until the next 30-minute cycle starts. This prevents officers from being in a critical check-in state when they initially log in to the app.
Login Process
- The officer will log in with their enrollee ID and password
- The officer will select the Hospital, Floor and Room number and select next
- The officer will be prompted to take a facial image of the inmate they are supervising. The officer must use the facial outline to ensure that the inmate's face is within the bounds of the oval.

Inmate images are stored for a period of 30 days. Any images older than 30 days are automatically deleted from the ShadowtrackONE platform.
Once the check-in is confirmed, all above information including the inmate's photo will be logged into the platform.
Gray (No Check-In Required)
- When a check-in is not required, the check-in button will be gray. No check-in is required when gray.
- The check-in button might be disabled when logging in. However, an officer can check in at the start of the next cycle.
Green (Available)
- The Check-In Button in the app becomes green so the officer can check in five minutes before the hour and again five minutes before the half-hour
- 11:55 AM - 12:05 PM
- 12:25 PM - 12:35 PM
Yellow (Warning)
- If the officer does not check in by 5 minutes past the hour/half hour, the check-in button turns yellow. However, the officer can still check in without a supervisor being notified
- If the officer doesn't check in by 6 minutes past the hour/half hour, the level 1 recipient (supervisor) will be notified by either text, TTS call or email
- If the officer doesn't check in by 11 minutes past the hour/half hour, the level 2 recipient (supervisor) will be notified by either text TTS call or email
- 12:06 PM - 12:15 PM
- 12:36 PM - 12:45 PM
Orange (Critical)
- If the officer does not check in by 15 minutes past the hour/half hour, the check-in button turns orange. However, the officer can still check in without a supervisor being notified

Red (Unavailable)
- If the officer does not check in by 20 minutes past the hour/half hour, the check-in button turns red. The officer cannot check-in, and the check-in button is suspended for the next 10 minutes
- At 21 minutes past the hour/half hour, the level 4 recipient (supervisor) will be notified by either text, TTS call or email
- At 24 minutes past the hour/half hour, the level 5 recipient (supervisor) will be notified by either text, TTS call or email
- 12:21 PM - 12:24 PM
- 12:51 PM - 12:54 PM
The check-in cycle continues again at five minutes past the hour until the officer logs out of the app.
Features and Functionality
- Supervisors will be notified when the officer logs in and logs out of the app
- Officers will see a confirmation message when they have successfully checked in
- If the check-in has been completed and the officer attempts to check in again, they will see a notification informing them they are trying to check in outside their required check-in times. Another check-in will not become available until the next hour/half-hour
- Officers will receive push notification reminders to check in so they don't forget to check in at the appropriate times
- Automated notifications are sent when a check-in is not performed, scaling a list of recipient levels until the check-in is completed
- All check-in requirements will cease once the officer logs out of the app
- A log of all officer check-ins can be found in the Correctional Officer's profile under the "Check-Ins" tab. The "Log" sub-tab lists check-ins, messages, and location points. The "Notifications" sub-tab offers other information such as "Escalation Level" and SMS phone number
