ShadowCuff Location Tracking
ShadowCuff Location Tracking
- ShadowCuff uses a combination of GPS, WiFi and LBS data for location tracking
- The tracking priority is GPS > WiFi > LBS
- Location points are configurable from 30 seconds to 5 minutes
- All location data is recorded within the enrollee's profile in the ShadowtrackONE platform

When the ShadowCuff is open and connected to the charger, it continues to gather location data but does not send the battery level, causing locations to be plotted without displaying a battery percentage.
Satellite Constellations Utilized by the ShadowCuff
The ShadowCuff is designed to search for and utilize satellites from various global positioning systems, including GNSS with GPS, Galileo, BDS, and GLONASS. It automatically selects satellites with the strongest signals to ensure optimal performance. This advanced technology allows the ShadowCuff to use more than three satellites simultaneously for accurate and reliable tracking.
Tracking Priority
The criteria for switching between GPS, WiFi, and LBS points on the ShadowCuff are based on the availability of GPS data within each packet.
Here's how it works:
- Simultaneous Acquisition: The ShadowCuff attempts to obtain both GPS and WiFi data within each packet.
- Preference for GPS: If GPS data is available in the packet, it is given priority and used over WiFi data.
- Fallback to WiFi: If no GPS data is obtained in the packet, the ShadowCuff will use the available WiFi data.
- Fallback to LBS if no GPS or WiFi: The ShadowCuff will then attempt to plot an LBS point.
- No Direct Switching to WiFi: The ShadowCuff does not switch from GPS to WiFi directly. Instead, it continuously tries to get both types of data in each packet and prioritizes GPS when available.
By following this approach, the ShadowCuff ensures the most accurate location data is used, leveraging GPS when possible and falling back to WiFi only when GPS is unavailable.
