Advanced Commonly Asked Questions about ShadoWatch
This article addresses advanced questions frequently asked by individuals seeking in-depth knowledge on the ShadoWatch, including details pertinent for RFPs, proposals, and sales teams. Whether you're preparing technical documentation or evaluating the watch for procurement, you'll find the essential information here.
Does ShadoWatch use autonomous GPS, assisted GPS, and SBAs?
ShadoWatch utilizes SBAS, GPS, and Assisted GPS (AGPS) for its location tracking capabilities.
Which constellation or navigation satellite systems does ShadoWatch use?
ShadoWatch searches for all available positioning system satellites, including GPS, BDS, and GLONASS. It selects the satellites with the best signal quality, allowing more than three satellites to be used for tracking to ensure accuracy.
How many satellites does ShadoWatch pull from?
ShadoWatch uses at least three satellites to determine its location.
In the future, we plan to integrate a Qualcomm chip into ShadoWatch, which will align with all relevant US government GPS performance standards.
What technologies does ShadoWatch have to reduce/deter drift points?
ShadoWatch calculates drift points by analyzing the distance differences between adjacent GPS points. It filters out points with significant distance differences that exceed a reasonable range. Additionally, we can customize the tracking system according to specific user requirements.
Does ShadoWatch have non-volatile memory?
Yes, ShadoWatch is equipped with non-volatile memory.
What happens to existing data if the battery dies?
If the battery dies, the data is securely stored in the ROM, ensuring no loss of information.
How long does it take to fully charge a battery that is completely depleted?
The charging time for a completely depleted battery depends on the location frequency setting. For example, if set to 1 minute intervals, it could take approximately 2.5 hours to fully charge, as the device continually plots points while charging.
Can the battery be charged to a set number of hours quickly?
ShadoWatch cannot be quickly charged to a set number of hours. For security reasons, the charging current of the watch is limited to 1 mA, which prevents quick charging.
What are the battery specifications?
The spec sheet mentions both a 1400mAh 3.8V High Voltage battery and a 5VDC battery. To clarify, the 5V refers to the input voltage of the entire product, while 3.8V is the maximum discharge voltage of the battery.
How long does the battery last at different tracking intervals?
1-minute interval: Lasts for 20+ hours.
5-minute interval: Lasts for 70+ hours.

Note: Battery life may deplete quicker if the watch is in an area with poor signal strength and constantly reboots to establish a connection.
What does the 56 GPS channels refer to?
A "GPS channel" refers to a specific path or frequency band that a GPS receiver uses to receive signals from a GPS satellite. Each channel is dedicated to a particular satellite signal, allowing the GPS device to process multiple signals simultaneously. With 56 channels, the PT880 can process signals from 56 satellites simultaneously, enhancing the speed and accuracy of position determination.
