ShadowDevice Alarm Types: A Comprehensive Guide

These alarms are categorized into Battery Alarms, Zone Alarms, Communication Alarms, Tamper Alarms, and Other Alarms. Each category serves a specific purpose, alerting users to potential issues or dangers. This guide provides an overview of each alarm type, their trigger conditions, and suggested actions to take.

Battery Alarms

1. Battery Critical

  1. Trigger Condition: Activated when the battery level drops to 10%.
  2. Suggested Action: Charge the device immediately to ensure continuous monitoring.

2. Failed To Charge

  1. Trigger Condition: Occurs when the battery has fully depleted.
  2. Suggested Action: Check the charging setup and reconnect the device to a power source.

Zone Alarms

3. Within Exclusion Zone

  1. Trigger Condition: The enrollee enters a predefined area they are restricted from.
  2. Suggested Action: Verify the enrollee's location and ensure they leave the exclusion zone promptly. Create a step in your protocols to send a message to the device informing the enrollee to leave the area immediately. 

4. Outside Inclusion Zone

  1. Trigger Condition: The enrollee exits an area they are required to stay within.
  2. Suggested Action: Contact the enrollee to return to the inclusion zone or assess the need for intervention. Create a step in your protocols to send a message to the device informing the enrollee to return to their designated zone immediately. 

Communication Alarms

5. Device Communication Timeout

  1. Trigger Condition: No communication from the device has been received for 1 hour.
  2. Suggested Action: Check the device's connectivity and ensure it is within range for optimal operation.

6. Device Communication Timeout Escalated

  1. Trigger Condition: No communication from the device has been received for 2 hours.
  2. Suggested Action: Escalate the concern for potential technical issues or verify the enrollee's safety.

7. No Location

  1. Trigger Condition: The device has not received any location data for 1 hour.
  2. Suggested Action: Ensure the device is in an area with clear GPS visibility.

8. No Location Escalated

  1. Trigger Condition: No location data received for 2 hours.
  2. Suggested Action: Investigate for potential signal obstructions or device malfunctions.

Tamper Alarms

9. Band Tamper

  1. Trigger Condition: The device strap or case has been tampered with or disconnected.
  2. Suggested Action: Check the device for any signs of tampering and secure it back on the enrollee.

Other Alarms

11. Lack Of Motion

  1. Trigger Condition: No motion has been detected from the device in a set amount of time.
    1. The device tracks the number of steps the enrollee makes.  If the number of steps doesn't change, a Last Motionless Date is set. If steps occur after this date is set, then the date is cleared.  However, if there is no motion 10 hours after the Last Motionless Date is set, the lack of motion alarm is triggered.  
  2. Suggested Action: Verify the enrollee's well-being and ensure the device is active and correctly positioned.
